✨Science with Mrs.Salazar✨ 🚀 Big moment in science! NASA’s Artemis II mission launched, sending astronauts back toward the Moon for the first time in over 50 years. Even more exciting—Christina Koch will become the first woman in history to travel to the Moon! 🌕 This is an incredible step forward in space exploration and a great reminder for our students that the future of science is full of possibilities!

Fairview’s Annual 5th Grade Mural is complete! 🎨 Dr. Eaton partnered with TRAHC and visiting artist Angi Cooper to bring to life a beautiful wall showcasing native Arkansas wildlife. The students selected for this special project conducted their own research and created sketches in preparation for painting. They learned so much throughout the process and took great pride in their work! We wrapped up the project with a sweet finale—donuts to celebrate their hard work and creativity! 🍩

Congratulations to these talented Fairview 5th graders who were chosen to paint a real mural! 🎨 These students consistently demonstrate great work ethic and positive behavior in the art room, and they truly deserve this opportunity. Watch for updates as they begin painting on March 16th and work to complete the mural by March 19th. We can’t wait to see their creativity come to life! 🖌️

Our students worked together today to help make each other’s writing even better! ✏️ They collaborated by reading their classmates’ work and giving helpful feedback to make the writing clearer, stronger, and more detailed. We love seeing our students encourage one another and grow as writers together!

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Eaton for being chosen as SW Ark Arts Council "Artist of the Week" 🎉🤗 🖼️ Savion Moss (1st grade) is pictured here with Dr. Eaton. These vibrant pieces of art are inspired by the late, great Alma Woodsey Thomas. For our February Black Art History studies, we’ve been learning about her significant contributions to 20th-century art in the United States. Students in grades K–5 explored her unique style—especially her bold colors, patterned brushstrokes, and abstract compositions—and practiced creating artwork inspired by her techniques. We are so proud of the creativity and focus our young artists have shown while studying such an influential artist! 🎨✨

Mrs. Butler’s classes had a special visitor today! Her son, Redwater Fire Department firefighter James Butler, came to talk with students about fire safety and common fire hazards around the home. He even demonstrated what a firefighter looks and sounds like in full gear — which was both exciting and a great learning experience for our students! 🚒🔥 We are so thankful for community members who take the time to teach and keep our students safe!

First graders wrote their first names in an abstract way and practiced blending colors with oil pastels. If I didn’t tell you it was their names, would you have known? 🎨 We love seeing creativity and confidence grow in the art room!

Blubber science in action! 🦭❄️ Our 3rd graders explored survival of individuals by using petroleum jelly to model blubber and test how sea lions survive freezing ocean water. As you can tell by their faces, not everyone loved how the cold water felt — even with their “blubber fingers”! 😂 A messy, memorable way to learn how adaptations help animals survive in harsh environments.

❄️☃️ Snow days were fun, but we are READY to see our students back on Friday! Let’s warm things up with a BIG attendance goal! 🎯 If we hit 95% attendance this Friday: ☕ Students will enjoy hot cocoa 🎁 AND all parents of students who are present will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card! Every student counts, and every day matters. Bundle up, set those alarms, and help us turn Friday into a WIN for Fairview! We cannot wait to see our classrooms full again. 💙📚

Mrs. Kerner’s and Mrs. Butler’s fourth grade students created dyed snowflakes using coffee filters, washable markers, and spray bottles. After designing and cutting their snowflakes, they held them up in the sunshine during art class and loudly exclaimed, “We hope it snows!” ❄️ Considering the upcoming weather forecast, they just might get their wish!

Dr. Eaton is working closely with Arkansas High School student teacher Ryanna Thompson. Ryanna visits Fairview two days a week, helping with reading groups and supporting students wherever needed. Today, she learned about creating student displays in Fairview’s art gallery. We are so thankful to have her at Fairview and love watching her grow as a future educator! 💙📚🎨
